Gandhi
Jyanti is celebrated every year on 2nd October to commemorate the
birth anniversary of Gandhiji – the father of nation. This year T.C.V. Chauntra
celebrated 150th birth anniversary of him by organizing a function in the
morning and community service (Swatch Bharat or Clean India ) thereafter.
The
function was attended by the staff and the students above class 6 at the school
auditorium. It began with the singing of the Indian and the Tibetan national
anthem followed by the lighting of a butter lamp in front of the portrait of
Gandh ji by the school Principal. Miss Dekyi Wangmo La, a Social Science teacher address the audience by
giving a talk about the life history of Gandhiji, the sacrifices he made for
his country and about his non violent ideology.
Cleanliness
and community service were treasured by Gandhiji. “Cleanliness is next to
Godliness” is Gandhiji’s mantra and to pay tribute to him, a cleanliness drive
was initiated by the school Social Science department. Classes from 5 to 10 and
the staff of the school joined the cleanliness drive to clean inside and the
outside of the school. The team of students and staff could transform the dirty
locality into a pleasurable one.
