‘Choekhor Duechen’ in Tibetan is the festival of ‘Turning
the Wheel of Dharma’ is one of the four major Buddhist holidays. It occurs on
the fourth day of the sixth Tibetan lunar month. This was when Buddha after
attaining his enlightenment, he turned the Wheel of Dharma and preached his
sermon for the first time, at Sarnath, Varanasi (India) by teaching the ‘Four
Noble Truths’.
So here in our school we commemorated the event with a grand
(SOL-TSOG) offering to Buddha acknowledging his kindness to have turned the
Wheel of Dharma to protect all sentient beings from delusions and sufferings.
This grand religious ritual was organized by our school Cultural Committee and
children above class 7 and the staff members participated in it.
