Science Day

TCV School Chauntra Organized Science Day on 19^th of August, 2019 on the theme topic “150^th Anniversary of International Year of Periodic Table”. Unlike previous years, Science Department had involved Class 3 and above students to participate in morning assembly programs. There, the program was started with Head of Science Department Mr.Dawa talked on the topic “Science and Buddhism”, followed by Riglam on topic solar system by class 5B and song on  photosynthesis by class 4B students. One of the most interesting programs was every class from 7 and above had participated in the tower building activity, which was part of Marshmallow group activity, where students and concerning class teacher had great fun in making a rigid and stable building.

From 11:30am, the actual Science Day model Exhibition was started and its runs till 4:00pm.

The 1^st position was batched by Mr.Pema Norbu la (Class IX-D) on his topic “No Pollution” as per the environmental awareness. Second position batched by Mr.Kunchok la and Mr.Lobsang Gyalpo la on their topic “Electromagnetic Crane” and “Electromagnetic City”. The junior school top model was batched by class 5D on topics “Greenhouse Effect”.

The new program organized by science department to encourage students in pursuing their interest in science is the “Inter Section Science Olympiad” in evening session. There, the groups participated in Quiz Round, Identification, quick solve and Periodic table round. It’s the Section ‘S’ who won the overall 1^st position.

Overall, it’s been a busy day and program went successful as planned. Since there is not a word to describe it’s as a perfect, we the science department is looking forward for the betterment and improvement of science day in coming years, as well as to bring overall development in science aspect activities in school.

SCIENCE DAY

Why do we need to learn Science as one of the subjects in schools? The question arises in everyone’s head and probably these are the few reasons why we need to.

1. Develops problem skills

2. Awareness about technology

3. How to consereve natural resources

4. Instills survival skills

Science, as a subject is universal and knows no boundaries. People at present live in the ‘Age of Science’. It is taught in the schools to turn our children into intelligent citizens who can appreciate and enjoy the beauty and wonder of nature. To make them efficient in all walks of life and should take delight in the wealth of culture of past generations and civilizations. It affords knowledge of certain facts and laws and helps in achieving the main object of education.

In our school, the ‘Science Day’ was observed on 11 September 2017. The day started with the morning function with awesome presentations from the teachers and the children. The primary classes came up with some beautiful songs related to Science.

Followed by children’s Science Project exhibition where there were lots of working models and children show cased their talents, skills and creativity. The award for best working model was bagged by Pema Wangdi and Tenzin Khedup of class 8D. They have prepared a ‘Hydraulic Bull dozer’.

The afternoon program was interesting and innovative. It was called ‘Marsh Mellow Challenge”. It was a competition of building the tallest tower out of spaghetti noodles and other stuff. The position was again bagged by class 8 students.

Overall it was a complete educative, informative and an entertaining program. Hats off to all the Science teachers! We applaud for their hard work and effort.

SCIENCE DAY

In our school, grand science day was held on 14thSeptember, 2016 at our school auditorium. There were approximately 450 students involved in that programme. Sambhota school students came here as guest of that programme. Whole programme was organized by science teachers of class 6-10.

The main aims and objectives were:

Students learn by doing themselves through project making.

They understand concepts of science through moving models.

Building life skill-they learns to co-operate and work in groups.

The programme proceeded through presentation, skit, song, trash ion show, exhibition and shown a movie on the life of Stephen hawking.

Position holders were:

Smart city model-prepared by Sangay Ngodup group class-10.

Handmade projector-prepared by Dorjee Damdul group class-8.

Science magazine logo winner-Dawa Sangpo 9-D and Jorden 9-D

Science poster competition-Tsewang Namgyal 10 B, Dawa Sangpo-9D and Tsering Dhondup 8-D.

Overall, the programme was very successful and encouraging.
