INTER HOUSE CULTURAL SONG AND DANCE COMPETITION

T.C.V. aims to develop a sound understanding of Tibetan identity and culture and taking these goals into account an inter house cultural song and dance is organized every year in all the T.C.V. Schools to preserve and promote our culture and identity. A large number of students get the opportunity to learn Tibetan songs, dances and music.

The inter house cultural song and dance competition of  this school took place on 25^th May in the school’s Lother Auditorium. To grace the occasion the school has invited Dr. Pema Yangchen La, the Education Minister, CTA as the chief guest and some  distinguished  guests. The judges for the competition were Mr. Tsultrim Dorjee La, Mr. Phuntsok Tashi La and Mr. Yeshi Tsering La. They had the most difficult time since the competition was neck and neck. The competition was between four houses based on four different items namely, a group song, a duet song, a junior dance and a senior dance.

This year, around 500 students participated in this mega event. The students literally gave their heart and soul in learning and rehearsing  those songs and dance items within a short span of time under the guidance of their hardworking and dedicated house masters and mistresses. They mesmerized the audience with their awesome and exquisite performance.

Finally the result of the competition was declared and the winners were awarded with trophies by the chief guest. In group song, Nyatri House bagged the first prize, in duet singing category Triral House stood first, in the junior dance competition, Nyatri bagged the first prize and Songtsen House bagged the first prize in the senior dance category. The overall winner of inter house cultural song and dance competition was bagged by Nyatri House. The competition was a grand success as it brought out a number of hidden talents and more number of students’ participation. It was a memorable day for everyone.

Inter House Cultural Song and Dance Competition

Inter House Cultural Song and Dance Competition is indeed one of the biggest and the most awaited event in all the TCV schools. So here the final day has arrived to show case the talents and the preparation by each Houses.

The Chief Guest for the event was the Honorable President of TCV Schools, Mr. Thupten Dorjee accompanied by the TCV Education Director, the Village Director and the school Principals from the neighboring schools.

This year the three esteemed judges were from TIPA & Tibetan Institute for Performing Arts. It had surely been a very difficult task for the judges to make the decisions as each and every item presented were outstanding. It was mandatory for every House to prepare four items each & two dances, one duet and a group song.

This year more than 500 students participated in this activity. The House masters’ and the students’ hard work was apparently visible during the real contest but as it is a competition one had to win and one to lose.

Thus this year the overall result was as follow

The first position was bagged by Triral House

The second position was bagged by Songtsen House

The third position was bagged by Trisong House

The fourth position was bagged by Nyatri House.

INTER-HOUSE CULTURAL SONG AND DANCE PRACTICE PROGRAM

The on-going program in the school is the cultural song and dance practice. This is yet another significant program of the school which makes children connected to their roots. There are four Houses namely Nyatri, Songtsen, Trisong and Triral. Each House has to prepare four items each - two dances, one group song and a duet. This is another program in which almost the whole school participate.

Nowadays it’s summer timetable. The class begins at 7 a.m. in the morning and ends at 2.20 p.m. Right after the lunch at around 3 p.m. the practice begins. Then after the evening self study, those who are in the dance group have to go again for the practice till 8.30 to 9 p.m. The final Inter-House Cultural Song and Dance Competition will be held on 27 May 2017.

Inter House cultural night

The most important objectives of Tibetans children’s villages are to build up a sound perceptive of our Tibetan uniqueness and ethnicity among the Tibetan students. With this aim in mind our school has hold a mega event every year called an inter-house cultural song and dance competition. This year inter-house cultural night was organized on 28th May 2016 in the school auditorium. This mega event unlike the other activity of the school involves large number of students to cherish the richness and the beauty of our culture, ethnicity and tradition in this technology world. The categories for the competition were senior cultural dance, duet song and House group song. The students of all the four houses performed elegantly and we were happily surprised to view a variety of Tibetan folk dance forms and songs. The auditorium resonated with spirited song, erecting the ambience of the country where folk fervor is fittest. With the song and dance rang through the hall and no foot in the audience could have resisted tapping along!. It is the sheer hard work of all the house masters, our two music teachers and most importantly the students.

To grace the occasion, we have invited Gen Thupten Dorjee la the newly elected executive director of TCV to be our guest of honor on the night of the competition. The adjudicators for the competition were

With the impartial judgment of the adjudicators after the competition, the result was declared and the winners were awarded by the chief guest.

The results are

Songtsen House has won the competition for the two consecutive years (2015 and 2016)

 Second place was begged by Nyatri house Followed by Trisong and Trial.

After the prize distribution, the guest of honor was requested to give a speech on his view on the inter-house cultural completion. Thereafter, the chairman of games and sports committee Mr. Dawa Gyatso la gave a word of thanks and the program came to end with the singing of Tibetan national anthem.

Inter House Cultural Song and Dance Competition

2015 Inter House Cultural Song and Dance competition was held on 14th August, with much appreciation and triumph. The program added a lot to the glory and pomp to the school, as we welcomed Mrs. Juchen Kunchok, Dotoe MP as chief guest and many other dignitaries from various fields. 

This year, Songtsen House stood out and held the winning trophy in front of many and earned lot of respect and dignity winning the competition.

Right after the competition, a public show was staged on 15th August and we are very lucky to experience a great support, especially from the parents of our students for being there for the most wonderful audience.
