TIBET OUR COUNTRY PROJECT

Tibet our country day is celebrated annually in all the T.C.V. schools to let the children develop a sound understanding of Tibetan identity, culture and tradition and our school is no exception. Prior to this big event or program, the teachers in our school select or choose a topic which is suitable and appropriate for their class level. They research and read the books related with the topic they have chosen and get ready with all the resources and materials beforehand. The teaching and learning process starts thereafter.

This year Tibet our country project started in this school on 3rd April and lasted till 24th April. The children and the teachers both stayed back after the class to learn and share more about Tibet and its culture and tradition. This year it was decided in the Education Development Team meeting that the T.O.C. project be based on displays and exhibition of models rather than the class wise presentation which the school has been doing for the past few years. The change was made  to make the children learn more by watching and observing the exhibitions and to create the atmosphere and sense of Tibetanness in them.

The morning programme commenced at 9:00 a.m. inside the school Lother Hall. Class 3 students did their presentation on Sangsol and a Tibetan dance followed by songs and dance by the Kindergarten and the Special School.  Students and staff read the Sangsol scriptures and had Sangsol on the school basketball court.

After the recess, each class displayed their models and exhibitions to the students and staff to be observed. The models and the demonstrations were on the following topics :Nomadic life, Tibetan Medicines, Guthuk, The Twelve Zodiac Signs, Tibetan Opera, Yumbulhakhang, The Eight Auspicious Signs, The Tibetan Traditional Dresses, Potala  etc. The students and the staff had an interactive and fun learning from those who were explaining their projects.

The day ended with some satirical and comedy drama by the students of class 6 at the school auditorium at 7:00 p.m. The audience had a great time laughing out loud after watching their high standard dramas. On the whole Tibet our country project was a grand success.

TIBET OUR COUNTRY PROJECT

TCV Chauntra Tibet Our Country ProjectTibet Our Country Project is one of the prime activities in TCV Schools where children get to know a lot about our country, Tibet. This program is specially designed in such a way that children get to feel the true essence of the rich and the unique culture of our great nation. The key objective of organizing such program in the school is to educate and impart the knowledge in our children about our country and keep them connected with their roots.
TCV Chauntra Tibet Our Country ProjectSo here in our school TCV School Chauntra, the conclusion day function was held on 26 April 2017 on the very auspicious day of Lhakar, ‘the White Wednesday’ after almost a month long research, study and preparation.
TCV Chauntra Tibet Our Country ProjectThe day started with the incense burning prayer (SANGSOL in Tibetan) at 7 a.m. in the morning. It was soon followed by the presentation on this particular ritual by the students of class 3. After the prayer the staff members and children participated in the traditional circular dance called ‘Gorshey’. It was indeed a very special morning to all of us.
The focus area of this year’s program is ‘SECULAR ETHICS’. Every class had to do research, learn and prepare presentations either directly or indirectly related with it particularly. The program covers a wide range and varieties of topic presentations that it was not possible to complete in one day. As every topic is important, the school administration decided to provide opportunities to every class to display and showcase their activities during the morning assembly. Every class participated as according to their own class level and as per their age group. There are dramas, songs, power point presentations and whole lot as such the program is still on the go.
Hopefully we shall be able to give a complete conclusion to this special program within this week. Happy learning everyone and be proud of your country and your nation!!!

TCV Chuantra Tibet our country project
This programme is one of the most important in our school Calendar which reflects and brings forward Tibet’s tradition, culture and religion etc. This activity is the best example for the CHILD CENTERED METHOD OF EDUCATION because it needs students overall participation and teachers guidance. We were allotted about 22 days to teach and work on this project. This year we started this programme on 6th April to 27th April 2016. The topics were chosen by keeping in mind the focus areas of TCV this year i.e. “Moral and Ethical values”. Some of the topics are 365 daily advices from the heart, Middle way approach, origin of honorific words etc. The actual presentation of the project was done yesterday on 27th April whole day in the school auditorium. The most important part is that students have practically learned about the importance of Moral and Ethical values from the rich cultural and heritage of our country Tibet. The day was a knowledgeable and a fruitful one.
