THE BIRTHDAY OF H.H. THE DALAI LAMA

T.C.V. Chauntra celebrated the 84^th birthday of H.H. The Dalai Lama on the 6^th of July at the school auditorium. The function was attended by staff and the students above class 6. The function started at 8a.m. with the Sangsol followed by the procession of the portrait of H.H. The Dalai Lama from the school chapel to the Lother Hall with ceremonial enthronement chanting. The portrait of H.H. was accompanied by Tadup Lopon, the school Principal, MC members, School Captains and Prefects. 84 flowers pots symbolizing the age of H.H. the Dalai Lama were offered. The school Principal Mr Passang Tsering La  lit the butter lamp to the portrait of H.H. the Dalai Lama followed by the offering of traditional scarf to the portrait by the staff  and the school Captains and Prefects. The prayer ‘Gyalwai Shabten’ was recited too. Dresil, ( sweet rice) ladoos and Tibetan butter tea were served to the staff and the students thereafter. The school Principal delivered the introductory speech. English Lother News 2019 was showcased and a documentary film was shown to the staff and the students. Bed sheets sponsored by Christine from Germany were distributed to homes. The program ended with the vote of thanks speech by the school Headmaster Mr. Karma Tashi La and the singing of Tibetan and Indian National Anthem.

In the afternoon at 2: 45 p.m. H.H. the Dalai Lama’s Birthday Soccer Tournament was played between Staff Team and School Boys’ Team. The auspicious day ended with peace and joy.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama Birthday

On 6th July 2017, we celebrated one of the most blissful days of the year as it is the born day of our beloved His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. We started this auspicious day with a gathering of staff and students above class VII for Sangsol (incense burning) prayer.

The programme started at 8:00 and the actual function started at 9 am with a lighting of butter lamp by our school Principal, Mr. Passang Tsering la and offering of white scarf by the whole staff for His Holiness portrait.  The school Principal delivered the introductory speech. . He talked about the life history of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and his blessing to the whole world.

After that, the highlight of the event was the inauguration and the launch of the TCV School Chauntra’s LOTER NEWS which is to inform about the activities hot happenings in and around the school.  This month we brought the news in Tibetan and hopefully in the near future we would be able to alternate it with English. It’s a monthly news edition.

The ‘Readers of Dalai Lama’ is yet another programme which is going around in the school for whole year. This year, more than 100 students have participated in it and read different books of His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama. Some of the students did PowerPoint presentation on the books they have read and what they understood from it.  

The morning programmed ended with the vote of thanks speech by our school Headmaster Mr. Karma Tashi la. Overall it was a meaningful and time worth spent event.

The afternoon programmed started at 2:45 pm with a soccer tournament between Staff team and School Students’ team. The game ended with the victory of the School Student team with a score of 3 and 4 respectively.

HIS HOLINESS BIRTHDAY

His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama turned 81.It was the day to remember the kindness and the service that His Holiness was devoting his entire life for the Tibetan in the whole world. The day was started via a traditional Tibetan sangsol at 7:30 in the morning and followed by the main function. His Holiness the Dalai Lama portrait was hailed from and main chapel in the school hall by the school Principal and the M.C members. All the staff members, the captain had offered scarf in His Holiness portrait. Next School principal described the History of His Holiness through power point presentation and video clip were shown. This year is to commemorate the 81st birthday. All the people are asked to perform 81 good deeds at the end of this year. The day was one of the most memorable day for all the staff and students of TCV Chauntra.
